After
coming so close to causing a shock against Carlow in Pearse Stadium
two weeks ago, the Mayo Senior Hurlers travel to Kildare in a repeat
of last years All-Ireland Senior 'B' Hurling final. In that game,
Kildare came out seven point victors in Croke Park. Mayo and Kildare
have met allready this year in the Leinster Keogh Cup, with Mayo
coming out on top in that encounter by 3-9 to 0-16.
Kildare
again will be red hot favourites coming into this tie, as they will
be looking to mantain their one-hundred percent record in the competition.
Earlier round victories over Kerry (4-12 to 1-17) and Wicklow (2-13
to 2-12) have put Kildare on top of the pile in Group 2B putting
them in pole position to qualify for the semi-finals. However, Mayo
have gained a reputation for upsetting form, and will not be travelling
to Kildare without hope.
The
Mayo camp however will be weakened by the injuries to Paul Broderick
(knee) and Kenneth Robinson (broken thumb). Both sustained their
injuries in training recently and will be out for the Kildare clash.
