History
was made on Friday evening last as the James Stephen's Hurling Club
played their first competitive game, recording their first victory
in the process. The club, which operated in the past as a sub-committee
of Ballina Stephenites GAA club, have taken the progressive decision
to go exclusive as a hurling club, with their application being
granted by the Mayo GAA Board at last weeks County Board Meeting.
The
historic game was an U14B Championship match at James Stephen's
home ground at St. Muiredeach's College against Ballyheane. The
home side were in fine form on the night coming out on top on a
5-11 to 0-2 scoreline."
