Ballina Hurler wins U14 Feile na nGael Skills Competition

Ballina hurler, Kevin Duffy, will represent Mayo at the All-Ireland Feile na nGael Skills competition in Cork, after coming first at the Mayo U14 hurling skills finals held in Ballyheane at the weekend. Duffy beat off the challanges of representatives from each of the other hurling clubs in Mayo to book his place for the 18th June event in Pairc Ui Chaoimh, Cork City. Kevin comes from a strong hurling family as his brothers, John and Tomas both play on the Mayo Senior Hurling team, while his sister Regina is physio for the Ballina and Mayo senior hurling panels. Kevin is son of John and Kathleen Duffy, Kilmoremoy, Ballina. Results: 1st - Kevin Duffy (Ballina) 2nd - Sean Ronayne(Ballyhaunis) 3rd - Michael Morley (Tooreen) 4th - Nathan Mullarkey (Addergoole) 5th - Christopher Walsh (Ballyheane) 6th - Alan Walsh (Castlebar).

Meanwhile, in the Mayo U12 and U10 hurling skills competitions held in Castlebar recently, the results were as follows:
U-12: 1st - Kieran McDermott(Ballyhaunis) 2nd - Gearoid Keane (Ballyhaunis) 3rd - Patrick Mellet (Garrymore) 4th - Kevin Keena (Castlebar) 5th - Ryan Gallagher (Belmullet) 6th - Tony Sweeney (Castlebar) 7th - Sean Regan (Ballina) 8th - Shane Boland (Tooreen). Other competitors were Cillian Dervan (Ballyheane), David Carr (Ballina), Aidan Somerville (Ballyheane), Daniel Folliard (Tooreen), Paul Rowland (Addergoole) & Cormac Harte (Addergoole).

U-10: 1st - Ronan Byrne (Castlebar) 2nd - Shane Egan (Ballina) 3rd - Fergal Boland (Tooreen) 4th - Aisling Tarpey (Ballyhaunis) 5th - David Kenny (Tooreen) 6th - Eamon Kennedy (Castlebar) 7th - Liam Naughton (Ballina) 8th - Sheraz (Ballyhaunis) 9th - David Mellett (Garrymore).
